Who is who
Under HIPAA, a dental practice is a covered entity. When a practice uses Alto, JCMD Solutions LLC handles the practice’s patient information on its behalf, which makes us the practice’s business associate.
Business associate agreement
We sign a business associate agreement with every practice before connecting to its data. That agreement sets out how we may use and disclose the practice’s patient information, the safeguards we keep, and how we tell the practice about a breach, as HIPAA requires. We use patient information only to provide Alto to that practice.
If you are a patient
Your dental practice’s Notice of Privacy Practices explains how your health information is used and what your rights are. To see your records, correct them, or ask how they were shared, contact your practice. If you contact us, we will direct you to your practice.
