Who operates Alto
JCMD Solutions, in Spring Hill, Tennessee, makes Alto Dental.
The product application is at app.altodentaliq.com. This marketing site is altodentaliq.com.
What Alto uses practice data for
Alto uses a practice's Open Dental data to run the practice's own KPI dashboards, Daily Recap, Morning Huddle, monthly closeout, and Ask Alto.
How Alto connects to Open Dental
Alto reads practice data through Open Dental's own API, which the practice turns on in Open Dental. Alto does not need a database login, and it does not install software of its own on office computers.
Alto Insight does not write to Open Dental.
Where Alto is hosted
Alto is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States: the application, its database, stored reports, and email delivery.
Ask Alto's answers are generated with Amazon Bedrock, in U.S. AWS regions. AWS processes practice data under our business associate agreement with AWS.
The Alto app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or error-tracking tools.
Signing in
Sign-in supports two-step verification with a passkey or an authenticator app. Each practice decides whether to require it for its team.
The Daily Recap PDF can be protected with a passcode.

Certifications
Alto is not described here as HIPAA certified. No SOC report, HITRUST certification, or other security certification is claimed. None of those marks are shown.
Business associate agreement
We sign a business associate agreement with every practice before connecting to its data.
